Hey all, I’m Christina and for those of you who don’t know, I am the editor-in-chief of the adult industry news site AIPdaily.com. I also have another blog on this network called Decadent Thoughts of a Deviant Barmaid (http://deviantbarmaid.blogspot.com/) where I post a daily erotic haiku and also periodically write my thoughts on current issues. I will soon be doing some thoughts on adult industry stuff on that blog as well.
As for the name of this blog, I feel that it needs some explanation. I’m sure most of you have heard of vaudeville. For those who haven’t, vaudeville was a genre of entertainment starting in the late 19th century into the early 20th century. It was all but destroyed when the talkies came out in the late 1920’s and early 30’s. Vaudeville was basically like a variety show where you could pay a nickel or dime and could go and watch magicians, comedians, short plays, movies and pretty much any type of entertainment you could imagine. People like Harry Houdini, Will Rogers and the Three Stooges were all vaudeville performers. Though the form is mainly dead, you can still find flickers of it around the country.
In keeping with the vaudeville theme, the word “bird” was a term used for a young woman back in the early part of the 20th century. It’s probably still used from time to time but again this phrase is pretty much dead.
What I want to do with this blog is to let out my thoughts on the world of mainstream entertainment. I will mostly be talking about movies but I will realm into the worlds of books, music and comedy. So keep coming back to see what the Vaudevillian Bird has to say.
